Will we have flooding rains tomorrow? That is the question…
A strong high pressure area is sliding off the New England
coast today. A weak Nor’easter is going
to form near the coast tonight and it will then move slowly northeast tomorrow.
The combination of winds from these two
systems will cause moist air to flow in off the ocean and into our area tonight
and tomorrow. The problem is that this
situation looks eerily similar to the one that flooded Central Long Island with
massive rains about a month or two ago. The
main question is will this actually set up like this, and if it does, where
will the heaviest rains fall? Those are
VERY difficult questions to answer.
There is a possibility that a very small area will receive
some very heavy rains and trying to figure out where that will be, if it does
happen, is nearly impossible at the moment.
Some areas may receive very little rain while others could potentially
receive extremely heavy flooding rains.
My best guess at the moment would be that these areas would be over
Southeastern Pennsylvania and possibly Eastern Long Island, but this could
change and this area could affect all or parts of New Jersey as well. Please stay tuned for an update this
evening. The focus of the heaviest rains
would be early tomorrow morning.
After this storm passes it will warm up for Saturday through
Monday with highs around 80 all three days and possibly even in the low 80’s on
Sunday.
There will be another chance of heavy rain next Wednesday
into Thursday morning then it will warm once again, possibly to the low 80’s
for next Friday and Saturday before cooling dramatically for the start of the
following week.
