Sunday, November 2, 2014 - Evening Weather Discussion

What a crazy storm it was.  Snow in Georgia and South Carolina, now 21 inches of snow in Maine today!!!  Click here to watch the video and read the story.

An active weather pattern is on the way...

It will start out nice tomorrow and Tuesday but it will be cold tomorrow morning with lows in the low to mid 30's.  Temperatures will rise to the low to mid 50's tomorrow afternoon and to around 60 on Tuesday.

Wednesday will be variably cloudy with a slight chance of a shower but it will be warm with a high in the low 60's as warm air surges north into our area ahead of a storm and cold front.

Thursday and Friday a cold front and associated storm system will approach, bringing rain heavy at times on Thursday into Friday morning, with showers likely continuing through the afternoon on Friday.  The highs will be in the low 50's on Thursday and around 50 on Friday.

On Friday night there will be a slight chance of a snow shower as the cold air moves in behind the front.

Saturday into Sunday morning should then be sunny but cold with a high on Saturday in the mid 40's, and the mid to upper 40's on Sunday.

Sunday afternoon clouds will increase as an upper level low pressure area in the Northern Jet Stream approaches our area from the west.  This storm system may merge with a piece of energy in the Southern Jet Stream near the Bahamas.  If this were to occur it would cause a Nor'easter to develop off the Middle Atlantic Coast on Sunday night that would then travel north to a position somewhere off the New Jersey Coast by Monday morning.

Depending on how this storm develops and the track that it takes if it does develop will determine whether we get rain or snow and how much rain or snow we get on Sunday night and Monday morning.  If these two pieces of energy don't come together at all we would just be looking at a chance of some showers on Sunday night and Monday morning.  The storm system will then move Northeast with a chance for New England to get pummeled again with heavy snow next Monday.

After this potential storm passes we will have a chance of some showers next Tuesday afternoon and evening as a cold front approaches.

After the front passes by next Tuesday night it will likely get quite cold with a potentially interesting situation developing again some time between next Thursday the 13th and the following Monday the 17th.  I am most interested on the dates centering around next Sunday the 16th and Monday the 17th for a potential strong Nor'easter to develop as a pieces may come together from the Northern and Southern Jet Streams again, creating a potentially powerful Nor'easter along the Middle Atlantic Coast.  We may have one to deal with next Sunday night and Monday though first.

Let's see what happens.

Join me in the morning for the latest...

Have a nice evening!
