Wednesday, November 19, 2014 - Evening Weather Discussion

Wednesday night into Thanksgiving morning coastal storm potential is still there...

First though, it will be nice through Saturday afternoon and a bit warmer tomorrow with highs around 40, dropping back to the mid 30's on Friday, then rising to the upper 30's.

Saturday night into early Sunday there will be a slight chance of some light rain or light freezing rain, so we will need to keep a close eye on that potential.

Then rain will move in on Sunday night as temperatures rise to around 50 on Sunday night.

The rain will be heavy at times and will continue until Monday morning, then we will have a chance of showers through early Tuesday morning.  Temperatures will rise to the low 60's on Monday and the mid 50's on Tuesday as warm air surges north ahead of an approaching cold front.

Temperatures will then cool off to the mid 40's on Wednesday.

Wednesday night there remains a chance that a coastal storm will develop.  The odds are still around 50/50 so this could go either way.  If the coastal storm does develop it would likely start to take shape on Wednesday along the South Carolina Coast then move northward to near Cape Hatteras on Wednesday night, then to a point about 100 miles off the New Jersey Coast by Thanksgiving morning.

If this were to occur the storm would likely pull enough air into our area to cause snow to develop on Wednesday afternoon or evening, continuing overnight and into Thanksgiving morning. Again, this may not happen at all, and in that case it would be cold and sunny for Thanksgiving day.

Moving beyond this potential, there will be another chance for a storm to approach from the west for Black Friday and next Saturday with a chance of rain or snow.

Then the next potential for rain or snow will be the following Tuesday when another storm is likely to approach from the west.

Join me in the morning for the latest on these possible storms.

Have a wonderful evening.
