Early Morning Data

The early morning data is continuing to suggest that the storm may very well be rain for a large part of the storm in many areas here locally with just a bit of snow at the start on Monday evening and again on Wednesday into Thursday morning.

The storm is in nearly perfect position for a big snowstorm here in Northern New Jersey according the data.  However, the data is suggesting that the storm will bring warm air into our area and change the snow on Monday evening into rain and likely heavy rain on Tuesday, then back to snow early on Wednesday, with light snow much of the day on Wednesday and into Thursday morning.

Some areas of extreme Northwest New Jersey would get as much as 6-8 inches of snow but it would taper off quite a bit as you head south and east to only a dusting to an inch or two for areas south and east of about Routes 78 and 287.

Areas of Southeastern New York State would see a similar situation as Northern New Jersey.

Areas just to the north and west would receive MUCH more snow with accumulations of over a foot in the Poconos of Northeastern Pennsylvania and just north of Orange County in New York State.

Areas of North Central Pennsylvania, the Catskill Mountains in New York State, the Green Mountains in Vermont, the White Mountains in New Hampshire, and Northern Maine would get OVER 30 INCHES!!!  A large area of 1-2 feet would be all around these areas from North Central and Northeastern Pennsylvania through Central and Northern New York State, Western Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire (excluding near the Coast) and Maine (excluding coastal sections).

Areas around Scranton, Pennsylvania would get about 20 inches.

That is what the data shows on this run and we are getting closer in so this may very well be what happens, but you should check back again for my morning discussion later today and my afternoon update again tomorrow just in case things change.

We are still 3 days away from the storm and things can change but at the moment this does look like the most likely scenario.

There is more important data to come later this morning and I will certainly be taking a look at this as well so I would encourage you to keep checking back for changes.  Nothing is set in stone here just yet, but we are getting very close to a time where it will be.

I am not yet completely convinced on the 95-99% rain just yet, but yeah it is getting close in time to start believing the data.  I am not yet there though.  If this continues through tomorrow afternoon like this I will believe it.  We shall see...
