Freezing Rain is Starting In Northwest NJ

Freezing rain and sleet has started in Northwest NJ. There is already a glaze of ice at my location in Allamuchy, Warren County, NJ and the rest of Northern New Jersey will see freezing rain start over the next hour. The temperature here is 28 degrees and it is in the mid to upper 20's throughout the rest of Northern NJ. Temperatures will also drop a degree or two once the freezing rain starts. Expect roadways to become extremely dangerous this morning.

The freezing rain may continue through 10-11 am or so and will become heavier as the morning goes on.

It should eventually warm up and turn over to rain after that, but the rain will become quite heavy and possibly mix with sleet or snow at times this afternoon and possibly even change to snow in far Northwestern areas, then change to snow tonight throughout Northwestern New Jersey and by late morning tomorrow in Northeastern New Jersey.  Then light snow will continue throughout much of the day tomorrow and into Thursday morning and several inches of accumulation could occur in Northwestern NJ and an inch or two in Northeastern New Jersey.

It appears that what the model was seeing as snow in those high snow totals in Northwestern NJ was this freezing rain this morning and the freezing rain could very well be quite significant.

More later with my morning discussion by 6:30.
