I am now absolutely convinced that a MAJOR Nor'easter will develop along the Middle Atlantic Coast starting late next Monday and lasting through Wednesday and possibly even into Thursday.
I am also absolutely convinced that a widespread area of 1-2 FEET of snow with local amounts close to or possibly even exceeding 3 FEET will occur somewhere between the mountains of West Virginia and Virginia up through Western Maryland, Central and Northeastern Pennsylvania, Northern New Jersey, New York State and New England.
However, please keep in mind that I am NOT saying that everyone in these areas will get this at all. I am saying that this band will occur somewhere within the area I outlined above. I am not yet able to determine who will get this much as this will be largely dependent upon the exact track that this storm takes. One thing I can say for sure is that an out to sea and missing us solution is pretty much off the table. The one thing that would prevent Northern New Jersey from getting anywhere near this much snow would be that the track of the storm COULD come so close to the coast that it would pull warm air in off the ocean and turn the snow to rain for a part of the storm, although, I honestly doubt that will happen, it COULD.
So, just keep in mind that a very significant storm is likely for Tuesday and Wednesday and very possibly with some significant snowfall somewhere in our area. However, rain is still not completely out of the equation for some of us, especially in eastern sections. Again, I am much more concerned about the snow potential with this storm than the rain, but we will have to wait and see what happens.
More later with the evening weather discussion.
