Then next weekend, will we miss another snow chance?
We may very well do so, as the pattern this winter has either been to cut the storms up to our west and into the Great Lakes, bringing us rain, or cutting them out to sea to our south and east, missing us.
Right now there is a great deal of uncertainty as to whether this storm will cut up to our west and bring us rain or go to our south and east and bring us a chance for a little snow or a complete miss. The one thing that is certain is that we would have to, "thread the needle" in order to get snow with this one. Meaning, it would have to be the perfect combination of the storm coming just far enough north to give us some snow but not too far north and bringing the warm air in and giving us rain. We will just have to wait and see how this works out. At this time I am not able to make a determination on this. My gut is leaning in the way of this missing and sliding out to sea to our south and east, but it could almost as easily cut to our north and become a rain storm. There is however still a chance of this, "threading the needle" and becoming a snowstorm. I will let you know as soon as I am able to figure it out.
Beyond this storm cold air will move in for next Monday through Friday with a couple of Alberta Clipper type storms on Tuesday and Wednesday (fast moving storms dropping down from Canada with lots of cold air but little moisture to work with), bringing us a chance for snow showers.
Then next Thursday and Friday should be nice, followed by a storm approaching the following weekend with a chance of rain or snow.
