Reached Ice Storm Warning Criteria in Parts of Northwestern NJ

My weather station in Allamuchy Township, Warren County, NJ has reached Ice Storm Warning criteria with .53 inches of freezing rain and sleet this morning (mainly freezing rain).

The temperature is just below freezing still at 31.9 degrees.

I saw several downed tree limbs and a downed power line this morning from the weight of the ice on the trees.

Temperatures should rise above freezing in the rest of Northwestern New Jersey shortly, regardless it will likely start to mix with and change to sleet and snow starting this afternoon or evening as cold air starts to move in at upper levels of the atmosphere.  The snow and snow showers may then continue on and off through Thursday morning with some accumulation possible, especially in the higher elevations.
