It really does want to snow today and there are scattered
flurries and even some light snow around the area, especially over Southern New
York State where there could even be a dusting of accumulation. In fact, in parts of Central New England over
Connecticut and Massachusetts there could even be an inch or two of accumulation
today. We really did just miss a
snowstorm today. Oh well, it would have
melted anyway as it will reach around 60 by Christmas. For those of you wanting snow, hang in there,
as there are signs that the pattern may change starting next weekend. We shall see…
Today Northern New Jersey will have cloudy skies with a chance
of a flurry and highs in the low to mid 30’s.
Tomorrow will be cloudy with a chance of light rain or light
snow developing in the afternoon and changing to light rain at night. The highs tomorrow will be in the mid to
upper 30’s.
Christmas Eve we will have rain, heavy at times and strong
winds, with temperatures rising through the day, to around 60 late at night, as
warm air surges northward in advance of an approaching strong storm system.
Expect heavy travel
delays up and down the East Coast on Christmas Eve with the heavy rain and
strong winds. And for those of you heading south to Florida for the holiday;
remember that my dad owns a real estate company in Florida. Click here to view his
company website.
Christmas day we will have rain heavy at times early in the
morning and strong winds, followed by variably cloudy skies and a chance of
shower. Early morning, pre-dawn highs
will be around 60, dropping the low to mid 40’s shortly after sunrise, then rising
to the mid to upper 40’s during the day.
Friday a cold front will approach, bringing a slight chance
of shower at night with a high in the upper 40’s as warm air surges northward
again into our area ahead of the cold front.
Saturday will be variably cloudy with a slight chance of a
snow shower and highs around 40.
Next Sunday a storm may try to form along the East Coast. If this storm does form and come close enough
to us it would bring us a chance of snow with highs in the mid 30’s.
Next Monday should then be mostly sunny but cold with highs
only in the mid to upper 20’s.
Next Tuesday should start out most sunny but clouds will
increase in the afternoon with a chance of snow developing at night as a low
pressure area is likely to approach from the Southeastern United States. The highs next Tuesday should be in the low
to mid 30’s.
New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day there will be a chance of
snow as a front may stall out just to our south and east, allowing waves of low
pressure to ride along it and keeping us on the cold side of front. Highs will be in the low to mid 30’s on New
Year’s Eve and the upper 20’s to low 30’s on New Year’s Day.
Next Friday will be mostly sunny with highs in the low to
mid 30’s.
Next Saturday there will be a slight chance of snow as
another storm may ride along the front and threaten our area. Highs should be in the low to mid 30’s.
