A Nor’easter formed near Cape Hatteras, North Carolina
overnight and is riding up the Middle Atlantic Coast this morning. This storm will stall out when it reaches a
point just south of Long Island this evening.
It will then spin in that location through the day tomorrow, and then
head northward into New England during the day on Thursday, then spin back
around, remaining around the Northeastern United States through at least
Friday, and possibly into Sunday.
There has already been more than a quarter of an inch of
freezing rain in parts of Northwestern New Jersey this morning and roads are
ice covered and slippery. Temperatures
are rising and should continue to do so until this afternoon, causing the
freezing rain to change to rain by around 9-10 am in all locations.
We will then have heavy rain through the afternoon that
could start to mix with or change to sleet and snow this afternoon in
Northwestern NJ. The snow should become
light tonight in Northwestern NJ but continue through the night, while light
rain continues in Northeastern NJ. The
highs today will be in the mid to upper 30’s.
Tomorrow light snow and snow showers should continue through
the day in Northwestern NJ while the light rain should change to light snow and
show showers in Northeastern NJ by late morning. There could be 1-3 inches of accumulation
(especially in Northwestern NJ), and as much as possibly 4 inches in the higher
elevations of Northwestern NJ. The highs
tomorrow will be in the mid 30’s.
The light snow and snow showers should continue into the
morning on Thursday with a chance of a snow shower in the afternoon. An additional dusting to inch of accumulation
is possible, with up to an inch or two additional accumulation possible in the
higher elevations. The highs on Thursday
will be in the mid 30’s.
Then Friday and Saturday will be variably cloudy with a
chance of a snow shower and highs in the mid 30’s on Friday and the upper 30’s
on Saturday.
Sunday and Monday should then be nice with highs in the
upper 30’s on Sunday and the low 40’s on Monday.
Next Tuesday clouds will increase in the morning with a
chance of rain or snow at night and continuing into Wednesday as another storm
system approaches.
Next Thursday and Friday should be nice, but with increasing
cloudiness late in the day on Friday.
Highs should be in the mid 30’s next Thursday and the upper 30’s next
Friday.
Next Saturday another storm system will approach our area,
bringing another chance for rain or snow and a high in the mid 30’s.
Next Sunday and Monday should be nice, but with increasing
cloudiness late in the day on Monday as another storm system approaches. The highs will be in the upper 30’s next
Sunday and around 40 next Monday.
Next Tuesday there will be another chance for rain or snow
as yet another storm system will approach our area. The highs should be in the upper 30’s.
Yes, this will be one heck of a winter, but you probably
already figured that out…
Have a great day and if you have to drive today, please be
very careful on the roads.
