Wednesday, December 24, 2014 - Morning Weather Discussion

Those of you who want to see some snow, or who depend upon it to help make a living, hang in there, you may get your chance next week…

Who could have imagined that we would have a white Thanksgiving and then hit around 60 degrees on Christmas Eve?

First though, we will have rain today, heavy at times and it will be windy.  Temperatures will rise all day and into the night, reaching around 60 degrees late tonight as warm air surges northward into our area ahead of an approaching storm system.

Tomorrow we will have rain, heavy at times in the morning, then clearing, with early morning, pre-dawn highs around 60, dropping to the mid to upper 40’s shortly after sunrise as the storm passes by.

Friday we will have mostly sunny skies with highs in the mid 40’s.

Saturday will start out mostly sunny but clouds will increase in the afternoon and evening.  Highs will be in the upper 40’s to low 50’s.

Sunday we will have a chance of showers as a weak storm system and cold front approach our area.  The highs will be in the low 40’s.

The cold front may then pass through our area on Sunday night, stalling out in Central and Southern New Jersey on Monday.

Sunday night a storm system may develop along the front, along the Texas Gulf Coast.  If this storm does develop it would then move northeastward along the front, reaching the Virginia Capes on Monday evening.  This would bring us increasing cloudiness on Monday morning with a chance of snow in the afternoon and at night with a high in the mid 30’s.

Another wave of low pressure may then develop along the front on Tuesday, continuing a chance of snow through the day on Tuesday and into Tuesday night.  The highs on Tuesday should be in the low to mid 30’s.

New Year’s Eve through New Year’s Day and next Friday should then be variably cloudy and quite cold with lows dropping well into the teens, and possibly even into the single digits for New Year’s Day and next Friday, with highs mostly around 30 but possibly only in the mid to upper 20’s on New Year’s Day.

Next Saturday we will have increasing cloudiness with a chance of snow at night as another storm system may approach our area from the west.  The highs next Saturday should be in the low to mid 30’s.

Next Sunday we will have a chance of rain or snow with highs in the mid to upper 30’s.

Next Monday we should have mostly sunny skies with highs in the mid to upper 30’s.

Next Tuesday we will have a chance of rain or snow with highs in the mid to upper 30’s.

Have a wonderful Christmas Eve!
