European Model Update

The European model agrees with the American short-range model and actually manages to up things a touch more even.  It now shows the potential for 6-10 inches of snow from about Rt. 78 Northward. The only thing that could hold the accumulations down a bit is if any freezing rain or sleet mixes in with the snow. This seems most likely to occur in areas near Rt. 78 and possibly into parts of Northeastern NJ.  I would temper expectations here a bit though just in case the mixture does happen and go with a general 4-8 inches now, increased from my earlier guess of 3-8.

The most likely area to get all snow would be in Northwestern New Jersey where 6-8 inches is more likely, while areas across Northeastern NJ and down towards Rt. 78 might end up in the 4-6 inch range due to a mixture.  However, if Northeastern NJ were to remain all snow, it would almost surely be 6-10 inches in that area, but my guess is that Northeastern NJ will mix at the height of the storm. We shall see.

The snow will start around midnight tonight and end around 6 or 7 pm tomorrow evening.

The Sunday night and Monday storm looks to be a near miss for our area, going just to our south.

More this evening...
