What had looked like a potentially very interesting and
massive snowstorm for Sunday and Monday has turned into a much more ordinary
storm, although it will still cause some headaches Sunday night and Monday…
First though, it will be cold today with temperatures
starting out in the single digits in most locations and warming to only the mid
20’s this afternoon.
Tomorrow a warm front will move through our area, bringing
with it a chance of a bit of light snow in the late morning and early afternoon
with a dusting of accumulation possible and highs in the low 30’s.
Sunday will be cloudy but warmer with highs in the mid to
upper 30’s as the warm front will have moved through to our north.
Sunday night the warm front will push southward as a low
pressure area approaches from the west. This will cause snow/sleet/freezing
rain/rain to develop in the late afternoon, changing to snow/sleet/freezing
rain at night, and continue through Monday morning before changing back to snow
in the afternoon or evening on Monday and ending on Monday night.
Total snow and ice accumulations should be 5-8 inches in Orange County, NY with up to a quarter inch of ice, 3-6 inches with up to a quarter of an inch of
ice in Northampton, Monroe and Pike Counties, PA, Warren, Sussex, Morris,
Passaic, Northern Essex and Bergen Counties, NJ, and Rockland County, NY, and 1-3 inches with up to a tenth of an inch of
ice for Hunterdon, Mercer, Somerset, Middlesex, Union, Southern Essex, Hudson
Counties, in NJ, and in New York City.
Tuesday the light snow
and flurries will come to an end early in the morning, and then it will clear
out.
Wednesday should be
nice, and then we will have a chance of a snow shower on Thursday as a cold
front passes through, bringing very cold air for next Friday and Saturday with
lows around zero and highs in the teens.
Next Saturday night and
Sunday will be our next chance of snow.
Next Monday then looks
nice before another chance of snow next Tuesday and Wednesday.
Please join me this
evening for the latest and information and watch for any quick updates this afternoon
if there are any changes…
