The winds did finally pick up this morning and I recorded a wind gust of 35 mph, although I am in a deep valley so I can only imagine that winds on the surrounding mountain peaks probably were over 50 mph.
It will get extremely cold tomorrow morning with lows dropping to zero to ten below zero, and possibly as low as 20 below zero in the coldest locations.
Tuesday a storm system will approach from the southwest, bringing us some snow. The snow will start around 1 am and end around 1 pm with total accumulations in Northeastern PA, Southeastern NY, Northern NJ, and New York City in the 2-4 inch range. Central NJ and Long Island should get 3-6 inches and Southern New Jersey should be in the 5-8 inch range.
Any change in track would reduce or increase snowfall amounts, so be sure to check back for updates.
Wednesday an Alberta Clipper will approach in the afternoon, bringing some snow showers in the afternoon and at night that could accumulate to a dusting to an inch.
Thursday through Saturday will then be just simply ridiculously cold, especially Thursday when the lows may reach 10 below zero in many places with highs in the single digits.
Saturday night through Monday morning we will then have a chance of snow as a frontal system with associated low pressure areas sets up nearby.
Then Monday afternoon and Tuesday should be nice but cold before the next storm system brings us a chance of snow next Wednesday.
It should then clear out next Thursday through Saturday.
Please join me in the morning for the latest information on our Tuesday morning snow.
