Tuesday, February 10, 2015 - Evening Weather Discussion

We dodged a bullet as far as the snow goes with the last storm but will we do it again?

Tomorrow will be another nice day with highs in the low to mid 30's.

Thursday an Alberta Clipper will approach but we will likely get lucky once again as the storm should pass by rather harmlessly, leaving us with only a dusting to an inch of accumulation.  The light snow and snow showers should start around 10-11 am and end around 10-11 pm.

Friday will then be nice but cold with lows around zero and highs only in the mid teens.

Saturday, light snow and snow showers should develop around mid day as an Alberta Clipper will approach from the west. The light snow and snow showers should continue until Sunday morning. There could be an inch or two of accumulation with this storm. However, there may be an interesting situation with a trough developing off the ocean and extending inland several hundred miles. These situations can actually produce very intense snows in very narrow bands only about 20-50 miles wide. Wherever this trough develops, if it develops at all, there could be snowfall amounts of 2-6 inches or more. It is very difficult to tell however if this trough will really develop, and where it will develop, until we get closer to the storm. We shall see. The storm will likely explode once off the New Jersey Coast, but too far out to sea to give us much effect, although Eastern Long Island and Southeastern New England need to keep a close eye on this situation.

After this storm passes it will get extremely cold with highs on Sunday only around 10 degrees.

Monday morning the lows will drop to below zero and possibly as low as 10-15 below zero in the coldest locations and highs will only be in the mid teens.

Next Tuesday into Wednesday morning there will be a chance of snow as a storm system will approach from the southeast. This is likely our next chance at a significant snowstorm. The low next Tuesday morning should again be near zero with highs in the 20's both Tuesday and Wednesday.

Next Thursday should then be nice but cold with lows in the single digits and highs in the low 20's.

Next Friday and Saturday will then be our next chance of snow as a storm system approaches from the southeast, followed by another chance of snow next Monday as yet another storm approaches from the Southeast.
