This is the coldest morning in years here in our area as
lows have reached as low as 15 degrees below zero in some locations and 7 below
zero at my weather station in Allamuchy Township, Warren County.
Luckily the cold will keep two separate storm systems to our
south and east, bringing us just a chance of some flurries tonight and tomorrow
morning and a chance of a bit of light snow on Thursday. I will continue to
keep a close eye on the Thursday storm, just in case it decides to come a bit
closer to us, but right now it just looks like a slight chance of a bit of
light snow. The highs today will only be around 20, rising to near 30 tomorrow.
Friday and Saturday
should then be mostly sunny and cold with highs in the low to mid 20’s on
Friday and the mid 20’s on Saturday.
Then Sunday through next Wednesday a frontal system will set
up in our area and several low pressure areas will ride along the front. This will bring us a chance of snow
developing on Sunday, possibly mixing with or changing to sleet, freezing rain,
or rain on Monday, then a chance of snow on Tuesday and Wednesday. It will not
precipitate the entire time, but will come in waves that are impossible to time
at this moment, so there will be a chance of bad weather each day at one point
or other.
It should then be nice next Thursday through Saturday before
another storm approaches for next Sunday and Monday.
