Tuesday, February 3, 2015 - Evening Weather Discussion

First of all, this blog just reached 1.7 million all-time page views. Thank you very much to all of you who made this possible and to everyone who reads this blog every day. I could have never imagined such a thing when this blog was put into place for me by Mike and Heather Michels, Jim Dunbar, Dave Conca, Joe Diblasi, and Dan Bertelli. Thank all of you once again.

We may be on the verge of a truly incredible storm for next week but only time will tell...

First though we will have a chance of a snow shower tomorrow morning but it will be warmer with highs possibly even breaking freezing.

Thursday we will then have light snow and snow showers as a cold front approaches from the west and a storm system approaches from the southeast. Luckily, we will be sandwiched between these two systems and will only get a dusting to an inch or two of snow on Thursday.

Friday will then be nice but cold.

Saturday a cold front will drop down from Canada and bring us a chance of some light snow or snow showers on Saturday night.

Sunday the frontal system will stall out just to our south. Meanwhile a low pressure area will ride along this front from British Columbia, Canada and will eventually dive into the Southeastern United States. This will cause the chance for snow to continue throughout the day on Sunday.

Monday the low pressure area will head east through the Southeastern United States, continuing the chance of snow through the day on Monday.

Monday night the storm system should finally make it to the South Carolina Coast where it sill start to intensify and move northward along the coast, continuing the chance for snow in our area.

Tuesday afternoon and evening the storm should be located just off Cape Hatteras, NC, continuing the chance of snow through the day on Tuesday.

Wednesday the storm should be off the New Jersey Coast, continuing the chance for snow on Wednesday.

Yes, this means we would have a chance for snow from Saturday night through Wednesday. There is a CHANCE this will happen. There is also a chance the storm could bring us snow only part of this time. It is largely dependent upon how close this storm comes to our area as it makes its dive to the Southeastern United States, and up the coast. Will it dive so far to the south that it misses us? Will it ride up so far off the coast that it misses there as well? Both of those are possibilities. Of course there is also the possibility that it brings us snow the entire time. Right now I see the chances being about equal. We will just have to wait and see how this works out.

Let me just say that everything that I said this morning still holds true. There is the potential for a truly amazing storm here with staggering snowfall totals for someone in either the Middle Atlantic or New England area. It is also possible that the fish could get the snow. Let's just wait and see. There are amazing possibilities here though.

Anyway, moving beyond this storm the next storm threats will arrive next Friday night into Saturday and Sunday night into Monday.

Please join me first thing in the morning for the latest.

Thank you and have a wonderful evening.
