Dangerous conditions likely along the coast…
Tropical Storm Hermine is currently located near Cape Hatteras, NC and will be heading out to sea, but then will turn around and head back towards us tomorrow afternoon and evening, possibly strengthening to hurricane strength as it does so. Hermine will come to within about 50 miles of the NJ Coast Sunday night into Monday morning and could possibly even come closer than that, with a slight chance of making landfall on Southern NJ or the Delmarva Peninsula. As Hermine approaches tomorrow winds will become very gusty, to 30-60 mph inland and 60-90 mph along the coast will be possible. In addition, there could be some heavy rain across Southern NJ where 1-7 inches or more of rain will be possible, depending on how close Hermine comes to the coast. The main effects from Hermine will be felt Sunday night. There could be severe flooding and damage along the NJ Coast, and possibly the Long Island Coast as well. Things should then start to gradually clear Monday and Tuesday as Hermine starts to slowly pull away. However, some rain and severe flooding is likely to continue along the NJ and possibly Long Island coasts.
Wednesday should then be nice and it will start warming, with temperatures reaching around 90 in many places inland.
Thursday through next Sunday will then be hot inland with a chance of a shower or thunderstorm next Saturday and Sunday. Highs will reach the low 90’s in many places and even the mid 90’s possible in some locations Thursday through next Saturday.
Next Monday and Tuesday should then be nice with temperatures falling to the low to mid 80’s next Monday and the mid to upper 70’s next Tuesday.
Next Wednesday there will be a chance of showers and thunderstorms as a disturbance approaches our area. Highs will be in the low to mid 70’s.
Next Thursday and Friday then look sunny with highs in the low to mid 70’s.
Have a fantastic day and let’s keep an eye on the path of Hermine…
