Thursday, September 1, 2016 - Morning Weather Discussion

Need to watch the track of Tropical Storm Hermine…

We need to keep a close eye on the track of Tropical Storm Hermine as it will make all the difference in the world as to our weather this weekend.

Right now though we will have a chance of a shower or thunderstorm today as a cold front slowly moves through our area, followed by a nice day tomorrow. Highs will be generally from the upper 70’s to the mid 80’s.

Saturday we will have increasing cloudiness as Tropical Storm Hermine approaches our area from the Southeastern United States. Hermine will bring heavy rain and strong winds to Georgia and the Eastern Carolinas, but the big question for us is how far west this storm will come? It is still too early to tell. It could take an inland path right over us, or it could go so far to the east that it completely misses most of us. The best guess right now is somewhere between. This would bring us a chance of showers and thunderstorms developing Saturday afternoon or evening and continuing through Sunday and possibly into Labor Day. Again, it all depends on the exact track that the storm takes. Highs should be in the 70’s.

Right now the only certainty is that there will likely be high surf along the coast for the Labor Day weekend, so probably not the best time to go to the beach.

Check back for the latest.

After this storm passes the middle of the week it should start to warm up with highs approaching or exceeding 90 degrees in many places next Thursday and Friday.

Next Saturday we will likely have increasing cloudiness with a chance of a shower or thunderstorm in the afternoon and at night on Saturday as a cold front approaches. Highs should again be near 90.

Next Sunday through Tuesday then look nice with mainly around 80.

Next Wednesday there will be a chance of showers and thunderstorms as a cold front approaches. Highs should be in the mid to upper 70’s.

Have a fantastic day!
