Warm, then maybe a bit of snow for some, and a big Snowstorm for New England...
The showers will end tomorrow morning as a cold front moves through our area and It will be quite warm with highs in the 50’s in most places.
Wednesday will then be nice with highs in the 30’s to low 40’s.
Thursday two disturbances will approach from the west, one in the Northern Jet Stream, and one in the Southern jet stream. These two disturbances will merge near the NJ Coast and form a Nor’easter. This storm will then strengthen rapidly as it heads north towards Maine. This will cause a mixture of rain and snow in our area Thursday, and a very big snowstorm for New England. Basically, my thoughts remain nearly the same as they did this morning, with very few changes, other than that it is now looking as if the storm could possibly come together a bit quicker than it looked this morning. This would mean that some of the heavier snow could make it a bit further south and into parts of Southeastern New York State, and possibly even into Northern Fairfield County, CT. There will also be a chance of accumulating snow, possibly even significant snow into parts of East Central and Northeastern PA and Northern NJ as well, depending on how quickly this storm develops Thursday. Highs will be in the 30’s in East Central and Northeastern PA, Northwestern NJ, Southeastern NY State, and Northern Fairfield County, CT, and the 40’s in Central and Northeastern NJ, NYC, Long Island, and in Coastal Fairfield County, CT.
For those of you who may currently be visiting New England for the holiday or who may be going there for New Year’s, this storm may end up bringing a major snowstorm to areas from Northwestern CT, to Albany, NY, then up through Western Massachusetts, most of Vermont (except possibly far Northwestern Vermont near Burlington), through most of New Hampshire (except possibly far Southeastern New Hampshire), and through most of Maine (except possibly along the immediate coast). These areas all currently appear to have the chance of 6 or more inches of snow, with the potential for a widespread area of 1-2 feet, with possible blizzard conditions somewhere within this larger area, most likely at the moment to be in Eastern Vermont, New Hampshire (away from the Coast), and Western Maine. I will continue to keep a close eye on this storm potential.
Friday will then be variably cloudy with a chance of a snow shower and highs in the 30’s.
New Year’s Eve will then be variably cloudy with a chance of a rain or snow shower in the afternoon or evening and highs in the 30’s inland and the low to mid 40’s along the coast and on Long Island.
New Year’s Day will then be variably cloudy with highs in the 40’s.
Next Monday we will then have increasing cloudiness with a chance of rain or snow developing as a storm system approaches from the Southeastern United States. Highs will be in the mid 30’s to mid 40’s.
Next Tuesday and Wednesday we will have a chance of rain or snow with highs in the mid 30’s to mid 40’s.
Next Thursday through Sunday then look nice with highs in the 30’s next Thursday, and the mid 20’s to low 30’s next Thursday through Sunday.
