Saturday, December 24, 2016 - Morning Weather Discussion

Mostly just rain this morning, then a nice Christmas Day…

The pattern so far, this winter season (winter runs from December through February in the meteorological world), has been for the storms to push up to our west, causing warm air to flood in to our area as the storms approach. There is no sign of this pattern breaking, and often these patterns do continue for the entire season. We shall see…

Most areas will just receive plain rain this morning, with the possibility of freezing rain in a few locations, so if driving this morning, please be careful.  Otherwise the rain will end around mid-day with highs in the mid 40’s.

Christmas Day will then be quite nice with highs in the 40’s.

Monday will be variably cloudy with a chance of showers at night as a cold front approaches. Highs will be in the 40’s.

Tuesday the showers will end in the morning and then things will clear out with highs in the upper 40’s to mid 50’s.

Wednesday will then be nice with highs in the 30’s.

Thursday a storm system will approach from the west, bringing a chance of rain or snow and highs ranging from the mid to upper 30’s in Northeastern PA to the upper 40’s to low 50’s along the coast and on Long Island.

Friday will then be variably cloudy with a chance of a shower. Highs will be in the 30’s.

New Year’s Eve we will have increasing cloudiness in the afternoon, with a chance of snow showers at night as a disturbance approaches from the west. Highs will be in the 20’s to low 30’s.

New Year’s Day will then be variably cloudy with a chance of a snow shower. Highs will be in the mid 30’s to low 40’s.

Next Monday will then be mostly sunny with highs in the 30’s.

Next Tuesday we will have increasing cloudiness with a chance of rain or snow developing at night and continuing through the day next Wednesday. Highs will be in the 30’s next Tuesday and the mid 30’s to mid 40’s next Wednesday.

Next Thursday will be mostly sunny with highs in the 30’s.

Next Friday we will have increasing cloudiness late in the day.  Highs will be in the low to mid 30’s.

Have a fantastic Christmas Eve!
