A storm on the way, and then let’s watch for next weekend…

A disturbance is approaching from the west and will cause light snow to develop between about 3 pm and 7 pm from west to east across the Allentown and New York City Metropolitan areas. Highs will be in the low to mid 30’s.

Tomorrow the snow will begin changing to rain from south to north across our area. It is possible that parts of Northeastern PA and far Northwestern Orange County, NY may receive all snow, hence the higher projected snowfall amounts there. The snow will change to rain in Central NJ between about 2 and 3 am, then in East Central PA between about 3 and 4 am, in Northern NJ, NYC, Long Island, Southeastern NY and Fairfield County, CT between about 3 and 6 am, and ending between about 7 am and 10 am from west to east across the Allentown and New York City Metropolitan areas. Lows will be in the upper 20’s to mid 30’s, with highs in the 40’s, with some low 50’s possible in West Central NJ.

Total possible accumulations are as follows:

Coating:  Central NJ

Coating to an inch:  Northeastern NJ, NYC, Long Island, Southern Rockland and Westchester Counties in NY, and in Southern Fairfield County, CT

Coating to an inch or two:  Western Bergen County in Northeastern NJ, Northern Rockland and Northern Westchester Counties in NY, and in Northern Fairfield County, CT

1-3 inches:  East Central PA, Northwestern NJ, Southeastern Orange County NY, Putnam County, NY, and far Northern Fairfield County, CT

2-4 inches:  Northwestern Warren and Sussex Counties in NJ

2-5 inches:  Northwestern Orange County, NY

3-7 inches:  Northeastern PA

Tuesday will then be variably cloudy with a slight chance of a snow shower at night. Highs will range from the mid to upper 30’s in Northeastern PA to the mid 40’s in Central NJ.

Wednesday looks nice with highs from the low to mid 30’s in Northeastern PA to the mid 40’s in Central NJ and on Long Island.

Thursday looks variably cloudy with a chance of a snow shower as an arctic cold front moves through our area. Highs will range from only the mid teens in Northeastern PA to the mid to upper 20’s along the coast and on Long Island.

Friday, we will have increasing cloudiness late in the day as a strong storm system approaches from the west. Highs will be in the mid teens to low 20’s.

Saturday, we will have a chance of snow developing early in the morning, changing to rain by late morning as the storm pushes up to our west. Snow and ice accumulations could be significant prior to the changeover to rain. The rain and snow could be heavy at times. Highs will be in the 30’s inland and the 40’s along the coast and on Long Island.

Next Sunday and Monday look nice with highs in the 30’s inland and the low 40’s along the coast next Sunday, and in the mid 20’s to low 30’s inland and the mid 30’s along the coast next Monday.

Next Tuesday we will have increasing cloudiness with a chance of rain or snow developing as a storm system approaches from the west. Highs will be in the mid 20’s to low 30’s inland and in the mid 30’s along the coast.

Next Wednesday through Friday then look nice with highs rising from the upper 20’s to mid 30’s next Wednesday, to the 30’s next Thursday, and the mid 30’s to low 40’s next Friday.

Christmas Eve we will then have a chance of rain or snow showers with highs in the 40’s.
