VERY active weather pattern in our future…

A disturbance will pass through our area early tomorrow morning, causing precipitation to develop in the Allentown and New City Metropolitan areas between about midnight and 4 am from west to east. The precipitation will fall as rain roughly south of Rt. 78 and snow north of there. Accumulations will be difficult to come by east of about Rt. 287 and south of Hunterdon, Somerset, and Union Counties in NJ. The precipitation will end between about 6 am and 10 am from west to east across our area.

Total possible snowfall accumulations are as follows for tomorrow’s storm:

Coating possible – New York City

Coating to an inch possible - Northeastern NJ, Southern Rockland and Westchester Counties in NY, and in Southern Fairfield County, CT

1-2 inches, with up to 3 inches possible in the highest elevations – East Central PA, Northwestern NJ, Orange, Putnam, Northern Rockland and Northern Westchester Counties in NY

1-3 inches – Northeastern PA

Things will then clear out during the day with highs in the 40’s.

Then Tuesday a storm system will approach from the Southeastern United States, causing a weak Nor’easter to develop near the Southern Delmarva Peninsula Tuesday evening. This storm will then strengthen a bit and head east out to sea. It now appears that the storm may strengthen just enough to allow cold air to remain in place in the same places that will receive snow tomorrow morning. The precipitation should develop in our area late Tuesday afternoon and Tuesday evening between around 3 pm and 6 pm from southwest to northeast across the Allentown and New York City Metropolitan areas. The precipitation should end Wednesday morning between around 7 am and 9 am.

Total possible snowfall accumulations Tuesday night into Wednesday morning are as follows:

Coating to an inch possible – Northeastern NJ, Southern Rockland and Southern Westchester Counties in NY, and Southern Fairfield County, CT

1-2 inches possible – East Central PA, extreme Western Bergen County, NJ, Northern Rockland and Westchester Counties in NY, and Northern Fairfield County, CT

1-3 inches possible – Putnam County, NY

1-4 inches possible – Northwestern NJ and Orange County, NY

2-6 inches possible – Northeastern PA

Then Thursday a disturbance and strong cold front will approach our area, bringing another chance for rain and snow to our area, probably in the same areas again.

Friday then looks variably cloudy and colder with a chance of snow showers and highs from the mid to upper 20’s in Northeastern PA to the mid 30’s in Central NJ, NYC, and on Long Island.

Saturday then looks nice, but cold with highs in the mid 20’s to mid 30’s, before the next chance of rain and snow showers in our area next Sunday and Monday.

A more important storm may affect our area with rain and snow next Tuesday into Wednesday morning as a Nor’easter may form along the NJ Coast.

Next Friday and Saturday yet another storm may form along the Middle Atlantic Coast, bringing us another chance for rain and snow…
