First possible widespread, significant, snowstorm of the season…
It will be variably cloudy with a slight chance of a snow shower tomorrow and Saturday as some moisture from the Great Lakes could approach our area. Highs will be in the 30’s tomorrow and the upper 20’s to mid 30’s Saturday.
Sunday there will be increasing cloudiness with a chance of light snow and snow showers developing in the afternoon and continuing into the night. Highs will be in the upper 20’s to mid 30’s. A coating to an inch of accumulation is possible Sunday afternoon and evening.
Monday the snow will become heavier early in the morning between about 3 am and 6 am from west to east across the Allentown and New York City Metropolitan areas. The snow may change to rain in Central NJ and on Long Island in the morning, and possibly into NYC, hence the lower snowfall amounts projected in those areas. An early estimate for possible accumulations would be:
Coating to an inch or two: Mercer, Southern Middlesex and Monmouth Counties in NJ and on Eastern Long Island
2-4 inches: Western Long Island and NYC
3-6 inches: East Central PA, Northern NJ (from Hunterdon, Somerset and Northern Middlesex northward), Rockland and Westchester Counties in NY, and in Southern Fairfield County, CT
6-8 inches: Northeastern PA, Orange and Putnam Counties in NY and Northern Fairfield County, CT
The steady precipitation should end in the late morning or early afternoon and then we will have a chance of some snow showers in the afternoon and at night. Highs will be in the 30’s, except possibly the low 40’s in Central NJ and along the coast.
Tuesday should be mostly sunny with highs in the 30’s to low 40’s in Central NJ and on Western Long Island.
Wednesday, we will have a chance of rain or snow developing as a storm system may approach from the Southeastern United States. Highs will be in the 30’s to low to mid 40’s in Central NJ and on Long Island.
Next Thursday then looks nice with highs from the mid to upper 20’s in Northeastern PA to the mid 30’s in Central NJ and on Long Island.
Next Friday there will be a chance of rain and snow developing as a storm system approaches from the west. Highs will range from the mid to upper 20’s in Northeastern PA to the low 40’s along the NJ Coast.
Next Saturday there will be a chance of rain or snow with highs in the 30’s.
Next Sunday will be variably cloudy with a chance of a snow shower and highs from the mid 20’s to the mid 30’s.
Next Monday looks nice with highs in the mid 20’s to low 30’s.
Next Tuesday we will have a chance of snow with highs in the mid 20’s to low 30’s.
Next Wednesday then looks nice with highs in the mid 20’s to low 30’s.
