Wednesday, December 21, 2016 - Evening Weather Discussion

A bit of wintry weather possible Christmas Eve Morning in northern sections…

Tomorrow will be variably cloudy with just a slight chance of a rain or snow shower as a weak disturbance passes to our north.  Highs will be in the low to mid 40’s.

Friday will then be sunny with highs in the low to mid 40’s.

Christmas Eve a disturbance will pass through our area, bringing a chance of rain, snow, freezing rain, or sleet to our area in the morning. Some light accumulations of snow or ice are possible in parts of East Central and Northeastern PA, Northern NJ, Southeastern New York State and in Fairfield County, CT Saturday morning. Things will then clear out in the afternoon with highs in the low to mid 40’s.

Christmas Day will then be nice with highs in the low to mid 40’s.

Monday will be variably cloudy with a slight chance of a rain shower. Highs will range from the upper 30’s in Northeastern PA and Northwestern Orange County, NY, to the upper 40’s in Central NJ.

Tuesday there will be a chance of rain showers early in the morning as a cold front passes through our area. Highs will be in the 50’s in the morning, then drop in the afternoon.

Next Wednesday should then be nice, but cold, with highs in the low to mid 30’s.

Next Thursday a storm system will approach from the west and it could develop into a Nor’easter as it reaches the Middle Atlantic coast. This will give us a chance of rain or snow, and it could be heavy at times, ending in the afternoon. Highs will range from the mid 30’s in East Central and Northeastern PA, far Northwestern NJ, and Northwestern Orange County, NY, to the mid 50’s in Central NJ and on Long Island. As you can see by this wide temperature spread, the track of this storm will make all the difference, as temperatures to the west of the track will be in the mid 30’s and temperatures to the east of the track will be in the mid 50’s.  We will have to keep a close eye on this one.

Next Friday will then be variably cloudy with a chance of a snow shower. Highs will be in the low to mid 30’s.

New Year’s Eve then looks nice with highs in the low to mid 30’s.

New Year’s Day there will be a chance of some snow as a disturbance may drop down from Canada and through our area. Highs will be in the low to mid 30’s.

Next Monday and Tuesday then look nice with highs in the low to mid 30’s.

Have a wonderful evening!
