Thursday, August 31, 2017 - Morning Weather Discussion

Remnants of Harvey and two tropical systems to watch…

Today will be variably cloudy with a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm as a cold front passes through our area. Highs will be in the mid 60’s to low 70’s in Northeastern PA to the mid 80’s in Central NJ.

Tomorrow will then be mostly sunny with highs in the mid 60’s to low 70’s,

Saturday will be variably cloudy with showers developing as the remnants of Harvey approach our area. Highs will be in the mid 50’s to mid 60’s.

Sunday will be variably cloudy with a chance of showers, possibly heavy at times in the morning as a the remnants of Harvey pass through our area. Highs will be in the mid 60’s to mid 70’s.

Monday will then be mostly sunny with highs in the mid 70’s to low 80’s.

Tuesday and Wednesday a tropical storm may develop in the Western Gulf of Mexico. This storm may then track northeastward towards the Florida Panhandle. This storm should not strengthen much, but will bring more rain to some areas that don’t need it.

In our area, we will have a chance of a showers or thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon through Saturday as the remnants of the tropical storm in the Gulf and a cold front very slowly pass through our area. There is a chance that the showers and thunderstorms could be heavy at times and could cause some flash flooding. Highs will be in the mid to upper 70’s in Northeastern PA to the mid to upper 80’s in Central and Northeastern NJ and NYC Tuesday, the 60’s to low 70’s Wednesday, the mid 50’s to mid 60’s Thursday, the mid 60’s to mid 70’s Friday, and the 70’s to mid 80’s next Saturday.

Next Saturday and Sunday Hurricane Irma will be approaching Cuba and the Eastern Gulf of Mexico, or the East Coast of Florida. Irma may develop into a major hurricane and could make it into the Eastern Gulf of Mexico. Anyone with interests along the Gulf Coast or East Coast of Florida should keep a close eye on Irma.

In our area, next Sunday and Monday will be nice with highs in the upper 60’s to mid 70’s next Sunday and the low to mid 70’s next Monday.

Next Tuesday then looks variably cloudy with a chance of a shower or thunderstorm as the remnants of Irma approach our area. Highs will be in the low to mid 70’s.

Next Wednesday is then looking cloudy with a chance of showers or thunderstorms, possibly heavy at times, as the remnants of Irma pass through our area. Highs will be in the low to mid 70’s.
