The entire Peninsula of Florida will be devastated by Hurricane Irma with winds of 80-160 mph. Irma will make landfall near Naples, Florida Sunday Evening and then will head north to Fort Myers and Port Charlotte, Florida, late Sunday night, to just inland of Tampa Monday morning, to near Lake City Monday afternoon and then to near Atlanta, Georgia by Tuesday morning. The Southwestern quarter of Florida will have the highest winds of 100-160 mph, with the rest of the state getting wind gusts of 80-120 mph. This will devastate much of the Florida Peninsula.

My father who lives near Port Charlotte (between Sarasota and Fort Myers) finally decided to evacuate today and is on his way out of Florida. Below is a picture of the traffic currently on Rt. 75 heading north near Ocala, Florida. They opened the shoulder for northward moving traffic.
