Saturday, September 2, 2017 - Morning Weather Discussion

Remnants of Harvey and then watching Irma…

First of all, it was incredibly chilly this morning with a low of 41 degrees recoded here at my weather station in Allamuchy, Warren County, NJ.

Today will be cloudy with a chance of showers developing this afternoon and evening, possibly heavy at times in some locations as the remnants of Harvey approach our area. Highs will be in the upper 60’s to mid 70’s.

Tomorrow showers will be likely in the morning, possibly heavy at times, as the remnants of Harvey pass through our area. Rainfall amounts of a half to one and a half inches are likely throughout our area. Highs will be in the mid 60’s to mid 70’s.

Labor Day then looks fantastic with highs in the mid 70’s to mid 80’s.

Tuesday afternoon through Friday morning we will have a chance of showers and thunderstorms as moisture from the Gulf of Mexico streams into our area ahead of a slow-moving cold front. Highs will be in the upper 70’s and 80’s Tuesday, the upper 60’s and 70’s Wednesday, and the mid to upper 60’s Thursday. Some flooding will be possible with rainfall amounts of 1-4 inches likely.

Next weekend we will have to watch closely as hurricane Irma approaches the East Coast of Florida, likely as a category 4 or 5 storm. Currently, the most likely track for Irma will bring her close to the East Coast of Florida, but she should then turn northward and head towards the Carolinas. There is the possibility of Irma making landfall as a category 4 or 5 storm somewhere between the East Coast of Florida and the Carolinas. However, Irma could turn northeast after turning north, and then head out to sea. It is still too early to tell.

In our area, Friday through next Sunday should be nice with highs in the 60’s to mid 70’s Friday, the upper 60’s to mid 70’s next Saturday, and the low to mid 70’s next Sunday.

Next Monday we will then likely have increasing cloudiness as Irma approaches our area. Highs will be in the low to mid 70’s.

Next Tuesday through Thursday our weather will be dependent on the track of Irma. Right now I will go with a chance of showers or thunderstorms next Tuesday through Thursday as Irma or the remnants of Irma may be passing through our area. Highs will be in the upper 60’s to mid 70’s.

Next Friday is then looking variably cloudy with a chance of a shower or thunderstorm as a disturbance passes through our area. Highs will be in the 70’s.

Have a fantastic day!
