Dangerous Hurricane Irma headed towards Florida or the Gulf of Mexico…

Dangerous Hurricane Irma continues to head westward and will pass north of Puerto Rico, Hispaniola, and Cuba, possibly brushing Northern Cuba, then will turn north near or west of Key West, Florida, then making landfall on Southern Florida or possibly making it into the Western Gulf of Mexico and heading for the Florida Panhandle. Irma is a strong category 4 storm currently with maximum sustained winds of 150 mph and could become a category 5 storm today. Wherever Irma makes landfall there will be significant damage. Irma should make landfall on Florida Sunday or Monday depending on whether she hits South Florida or turns into the Gulf and heads for the Panhandle of Florida.

In our area, showers or thunderstorms will develop this afternoon and evening and will continue through the day tomorrow as a slow-moving cold front approaches from the west. Highs today will be in the 70’s in Northeastern PA, the upper 70’s to low 80’s on Long Island, and the 80’s elsewhere, and in the 60’s to low 70’s tomorrow.

Thursday through Saturday will then be variably cloudy with a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm. Highs Thursday will be in the mid 60’s to mid 70’s, the mid 60’s to mid 70’s Friday, and the 60’s Saturday.

Sunday through next Tuesday then look nice with highs in the mid 60’s to low 70’s Sunday, the upper 60’s to mid 70’s Monday, and the mid 70’s to low 80’s next Tuesday.

Next Wednesday will then be variably cloudy with a chance of showers or thunderstorms as the remnants of Irma pass through our area. Highs will be in the mid to upper 70’s.

Next Thursday through Monday then look nice with highs in the mid 60’s to low 70’s next Thursday and the low to mid 70’s next Friday through Monday.

Have a fantastic day!
