Saturday, December 22, 2018 - Evening Weather Discussion

Some snow tomorrow night and then watching New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day…

It will be variably cloudy tonight and tomorrow with highs in the mid 30’s to mid 40’s.

Tomorrow night two weak disturbances will approach our area. These two disturbances will then combine, causing light precipitation to develop tomorrow night. The precipitation should be all snow in Northeastern PA, Northwestern NJ, Southeastern NY State, and in Northern Fairfield County, CT, mostly snow in East Central PA, Northeastern NJ and Southern Fairfield County, CT, and a mixture of rain and snow in Central NJ, NYC, and on Long Island.

Total possible accumulations:

Trace to a coating possible:  Central NJ and Long Island

Trace to a half inch possible:  New York City

Half of an inch to an inch and a half possible:  East Central PA, Northeastern NJ, Southern Fairfield County, CT

1-2 inches possible:  Northwestern NJ, Southeastern NY State, and Northern Fairfield County, CT

1.5 – 2.5 with localized amounts up to 4 inches possible:  Northeastern PA

Monday will then be variably cloudy with a chance of snow showers. Highs will be in the mid 30’s to mid 40’s.

Christmas Day through Thursday will then be variably cloudy with highs in the 30’s to low 40’s Christmas Day, the mid 30’s to low 40’s next Wednesday, and the 30’s Thursday.

Friday we will have rain, possibly starting as a brief period of snow or sleet in the morning as a strong storm system passes through our area. Highs will be in the mid 40’s to low 50’s.

Next Saturday will then be nice with highs in the 40’s to low 50’s.

Next Sunday will be variably cloudy with a chance of a snow shower as a cold front passes through our area. Highs will be in the 30’s.

New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day there will be a chance of snow as the cold front that will be passing through our area next Sunday will stall out just to our south and east and a couple of disturbances will develop along this front. One or both of them may develop into a Nor’easter. Highs will be in the upper 20’s to mid 30’s.

Next Wednesday and Thursday will then be nice with highs in the 30’s.

Next Friday there will be a chance of snow as a Nor’easter may develop near the Middle Atlantic Coast. Highs will be in the 30’s.
