Light precipitation will develop tonight between about 10 pm in East Central PA and 2 am in Fairfield County, CT and on Eastern Long Island. The precipitation will be snow in most places, but there could be some rain in Central NJ, NYC, and on Long Island. Any snow that falls in Central NJ, New York City, and on Long Island, will likely have a hard time accumulating due to the warm ground temperatures. Accumulations will be a coating to an inch or two in East Central and Northeastern PA, Northern NJ, Southeastern NY State, and in Fairfield County, CT, with locally higher amounts possible in some of the higher elevations. There could also be a coating of accumulation in parts of New York City and on Long Island. No accumulation is expected in Central NJ.
Tomorrow will then be variably cloudy with a chance of a snow shower or flurry, especially in the morning. Highs will be in the mid 30’s to mid 40’s.
Christmas Day through Thursday will then be variably cloudy with highs in the 30’s Christmas Day, the mid 30’s to low 40’s Wednesday, and the 30’s Thursday.
Friday we will have rain, possibly starting as a brief period of snow, sleet, or freezing rain early Friday in some places. Highs will be in the mid 40’s to mid 50’s.
Saturday and next Sunday will then be nice with highs in the mid 40’s to mid 50’s Saturday and the 30’s next Sunday.
New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day there will be a chance of snow as a couple of disturbances approach our area, possibly turning into a Nor’easter near the Middle Atlantic Coast. Highs will be in the upper 20’s to mid 30’s.
Next Wednesday will then be nice with highs in the 30’s.
Next Thursday into Friday morning there will be a chance of rain or snow as a Nor’easter may form near the Middle Atlantic Coast. Highs will be in the 30’s next Thursday and the upper 20’s to mid 30’s next Friday.
Next Saturday will then be variably cloudy with a chance of snow showers as a disturbance passes through our area. Highs will be in the mid 20’s to low 30’s.
