Thursday, December 20, 2018 - Evening Weather Discussion

Very heavy rain and strong wind tonight, with severe flooding possible in some locations…

There will be rain, heavy at times tonight into tomorrow morning as a strong storm system passes through our area.  Some flooding will be likely with widespread rainfall amounts of 2-4 inches likely and the possibility of localized amounts up to 7 inches. The flooding could be severe in some places. It will also become windy, with gusts of up to 60 mph possible. Tomorrow afternoon and evening there will then be a chance of a shower. Highs will be in the mid 50’s to mid 60’s.

Saturday will be variably cloudy with a chance of a shower early in the morning, followed by clearing. Highs will be in the upper 40’s to mid 50’s early in the morning, then will drop to the mid 30’s to mid 40’s during the day.

Sunday, clouds will increase in the afternoon, with light snow or snow showers developing at night and ending by Christmas Eve morning. A trace to an inch of snowfall accumulation will be possible in some places. Highs will be in the mid 30’s to low 40’s.

Christmas Eve will then be variably cloudy with a slight chance of a snow shower or flurry as some Lake Effect moisture could reach our area. Highs will be in the mid 30’s to mid 40’s.

Christmas Day, clouds will increase in the afternoon, with a chance of light snow or snow showers developing at night and ending by Wednesday morning. A trace to an inch of snowfall accumulation will be possible in some places. Highs will be in the 30’s.

Wednesday and next Thursday will then be nice with highs in the 30’s.

Next Friday, rain will be likely, possibly starting as a brief period of sleet in some places early in the morning. Highs will be in the 40’s.

Next Saturday and Sunday will then be nice with highs in the mid 30’s to low 40’s next Saturday and the upper 20’s to mid 30’s next Sunday.

New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day there will be a chance of snow as a Nor’easter may develop near the Middle Atlantic Coast. Highs will be in the upper 20’s to mid 30’s.

Next Wednesday will then be nice with highs in the 30’s.
