Thursday, December 20, 2018 - Morning Weather Discussion

Heavy rain/strong wind tonight into tomorrow morning; a bit of snow possible Christmas Eve/night and then a Nor’easter possible New Year’s Eve…

Clouds will increase with rain developing this afternoon and evening as a strong storm system approaches from the Southeastern United States. The rain will become heavy at times late at night and it will also become windy. Highs will be in the mid to upper 40’s.

Tomorrow the rain will be heavy at times in the morning and into the afternoon on Long Island and in Fairfield County, CT. It will then be variably cloudy with a chance of a shower. Some flooding is likely with rainfall amounts of 1-4 inches throughout our area. It will also be very windy early in the morning, with gusts of up to 60 mph possible. Highs will be in the mid 50’s to low 60’s.

Saturday will be variably cloudy with highs early in the morning in the upper 40’s to mid 50’s, then dropping to the mid 30’s to low 40’s during the day.

Sunday will be nice with highs in the mid 30’s to low 40’s.

Christmas Eve there will be a chance of light snow or snow showers early in the morning, followed by clearing, as a weak disturbance passes through our area. Highs will be in the mid 30’s to mid 40’s.

Christmas Day clouds will increase in the afternoon, with a chance of a bit of light snow or snow showers at night as a weak disturbance passes through our area. Highs will be in the 30’s.

Wednesday there will be a chance of a bit of light snow or snow showers early in the morning, followed by clearing, as a weak disturbance departs our area. Highs will be in the 30’s.

Next Thursday will then be nice with highs in the mid to upper 30’s.

Next Friday rain will develop early in the morning, possibly beginning as a brief period of snow or sleet in some places, with clearing in the afternoon. Highs will be in the mid 40’s to mid 50’s.

Next Saturday and Sunday will then be nice with highs in the mid 30’s to low 40’s next Saturday and the 30’s next Sunday.

New Year’s Eve there will be a chance of snow as a storm system may approach from the Southeastern United States, turning into a Nor’easter near the Middle Atlantic Coast. Highs will be in the upper 20’s to mid 30’s.

New Year’s Day there will be a chance of snow ending in the morning, followed by clearing. Highs will be in the 30’s.

Next Wednesday will then be variably cloudy with a chance of a rain or snow shower. Highs will be in the 30’s.
