Monday, January 21, 2019 - Evening Weather Discussion

Cold again tomorrow morning, then warmer with rain, then watching a potential Nor’easter…

If you have any weather related photos or videos you would like to share here on this blog, please forward them to edgeweather2@gmail.com with your name and town.

Below is a photo of the snow yesterday morning in Sandyston, Sussex County, NJ, submitted by David Gromek, as well as a photo of his weather station showing a low of -3 this morning. David says they got about 6 inches of snow with some ice on top. Thanks for the pictures David!

Tomorrow will be nice, but still very cold in the morning, with lows reaching around zero in parts of Northeastern PA, Southeastern NY State and Northern Fairfield County, CT to the mid teens along the NJ Coast, and highs in the 20’s to low 30’s.

Wednesday clouds will increase with rain in the afternoon and at night as a cold front approaches from the west. Highs will be in the upper 30’s and 40’s.

Thursday there will be rain, heavy at times in the morning as a disturbance develops along the font in the Southeastern United States, then rides the front through our area. Highs will range from the mid to upper 40’s in Northeastern PA to the mid 50’s in Central NJ and Long Island, then will drop in the afternoon.

Friday through Sunday are then looking variably cloudy with a chance of a snow flurry each day. Highs will range from the upper teens to low 20’s in Northeastern PA to the low to mid 30’s in Central NJ and on Long Island Friday, from the mid to upper teens in Northeastern PA to the upper 20’s in Central NJ and on Long Island Saturday, and the upper 20’s and 30’s Sunday.

A storm system will develop in the Northern Gulf of Mexico this weekend, crossing the Northern Florida Peninsula Sunday night and reaching a point off the Southeastern Coast of the United States early next Monday. At the same time a disturbance will be approaching from the west. If these two disturbances phase it will cause the storm off the Southeastern Coast of the United States to turn northward up the coast, if they fail to phase the storm off the Southeastern United States will slide harmlessly out to sea.

This will mean a chance of rain or snow next Monday, depending on the track of the storm off the Southeastern Coast of the United States. Highs will be in the 30’s.

Next Tuesday into Wednesday morning there will again be a chance of rain or snow as the disturbance from the west passes through our area. Highs will be in the mid 20’s to mid 30’s next Tuesday and the mid teens to mid 20’s next Wednesday.

Next Thursday through Sunday are then looking nice with highs in the teens to low 20’s next Thursday, the mid teens to mid 20’s next Friday, and the upper teens to mid 20’s next Saturday and Sunday.

Have a wonderful evening!
