Saturday, January 5, 2019 - Morning Weather Discussion

Rain today, a bit of snow Monday night in some places, and watching next Sunday…

A storm system will be moving through our area today, bringing rain, heavy at times. There will be some clearing likely at night. Total rainfall amounts will be one half of an inch to two inches throughout our area, so flooding is possible in some locations. Highs will be in the upper 30’s to mid 40’s.

Tomorrow will be variably cloudy with a slight chance of a rain or snow shower. Highs will be in the mid 30’s to mid 40’s.

Monday clouds will increase with a chance of a snow shower or flurry in the afternoon or evening, and then a chance of light snow developing at night as a warm front passes through our area. Highs will be in the mid 20’s to mid 30’s.

Tuesday, and light snow will change to rain, then end in the morning. A coating of accumulation is possible in East Central and Northeastern PA, Northwestern NJ, Orange and Putnam Counties in NY, and in Northern Fairfield County, CT. A glaze of ice is also possible in Northeastern PA before temperatures rise above freezing. It will then be variably cloudy with a chance of a rain shower in the afternoon or evening. Highs will be in the mid 40’s to low 50’s.

Wednesday will then be variably cloudy with a chance of rain or snow showers as a disturbance passes through our area. Highs will be in the mid 30’s to low 40’s.

Thursday through next Saturday then look nice with highs in the mid 20’s to mid 30’s Thursday, the upper 20’s to mid 30’s Friday, and the mid to upper 30’s next Saturday.

Next Sunday there will be a chance of rain or snow as a storm system may approach from the Southeastern United States. This is the one that snow lovers will want to watch. Highs will be in the mid 30’s to low 40’s.

Next Monday and Tuesday will then be nice with highs in the 30’s next Monday and the mid to upper 30’s next Tuesday.

Next Wednesday through Friday are then looking variably cloudy with a chance of rain or snow showers as a couple of disturbances may pass through our area. Highs will be in the mid 30’s to low 40’s next Wednesday and Thursday and the 30’s next Friday.
