Wednesday, January 23, 2019 - Morning Weather Discussion

Warming up with heavy rain and some flooding likely, and then watching next Tuesday…

A cold front is approaching our area and warmer air will surge northward ahead of the front into our area today into tomorrow morning. A strong disturbance will develop along this front in the Southeastern United States and ride along the front passing through our area tomorrow morning. This will bring heavy rain to our area with total rainfall amounts of one to two and a half inches likely, which will likely cause some flooding. Temperatures will reach the 50’s in much of our area and even some low 60’s in Central NJ in the morning and will then drop in the afternoon as the front passes through.

Friday and Saturday will then be nice, but colder, with a chance of a snow shower Saturday.

Sunday there will be a chance of rain or snow showers at night as a disturbance passes through our area. It had initially looked as if a storm would develop in the Gulf of Mexico and possibly interact with this disturbance, but that is no longer looking likely.

Monday will then be nice.

Tuesday a couple of disturbances will approach our area, one from the west and one from the south. The track of these two disturbances is still uncertain, as is their potential interaction. Depending on their track and potential interaction, we will have a chance of rain or snow.

Next Wednesday through Sunday are then looking nice.

Next Monday will then be variably cloudy with a chance of a snow shower as a weak disturbance passes through our area.

Next Tuesday is then looking nice.

Have a fantastic day and please join me this evening for the latest information.
