Wednesday, January 9, 2019 - Morning Weather Discussion

Windy today and then watching this weekend…

It will be variably cloudy and windy today with gusts of up to 40 mph possible. Highs will be in the mid 30’s to mid 40’s.

Tomorrow will be variably cloudy with a slight chance of a snow shower or flurry in the morning. Highs will be in the mid 20’s to mid 30’s.

Friday will be nice, but cold, with highs in the 20’s to low 30’s.

This weekend two disturbances will combine over the Tennessee and Ohio River Valleys and will head east at the same time that cold air builds into our area. The storm will head eastward and off the Middle Atlantic Coast. This will bring a significant snowstorm to areas from Missouri eastward through Kentucky, much of Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, all of West Virginia, Northwestern North Carolina, most of Virginia, parts of Southern Pennsylvania, all of Maryland and Delaware, likely into Southern NJ, and possibly into Long Island and Southeastern Massachusetts.

As for our area, my best guess right now is that the storm will push mostly south of our area, with the best chance of accumulating snow being in parts of Central NJ, the further south the more snow, and on Eastern Long Island.

This will leave us with increasing cloudiness Saturday and a chance of snow, light snow, or flurries developing in the evening as the storm system approaches from the west. Highs will be in the upper 20’s to mid 30’s.

Sunday will then be cloudy, with a chance of snow, light snow, or flurries depending on the exact track of the storm. The Highest likelihood of accumulating snow will be in Central NJ and on Eastern Long Island. Highs will be in the mid 20’s to low 30’s.

Monday there will be a chance of snow, light snow, or flurries ending in the morning, followed by clearing. Highs will be in the upper 20’s to mid 30’s.

Tuesday and next Wednesday will then be nice with highs in the 30’s Tuesday and the mid 30’s to low 40’s next Wednesday.

Next Thursday will be variably cloudy with a chance of rain or snow showers as a disturbance passes through our area. Highs will be in the mid 30’s to low 40’s.

Next Friday and Saturday will then be variably cloudy with highs in the 30’s.

Next Sunday there will be a chance of snow as a storm system approaches from the west, possibly developing into a Nor’easter near the Middle Atlantic Coast. Highs will be in the upper 20’s to mid 30’s.

Next Monday there will be a chance of snow ending in the morning, followed by clearing, as the storm system pushes away from our area. Highs will be in the upper 20’s to mid 30’s.

Next Tuesday will be variably cloudy with a chance of snow showers. Highs will be in the upper 20’s to mid 30’s.

Have a fantastic day!
