Friday, March 8, 2019 - Morning Weather Discussion

Some snow and ice possible in parts of our area Sunday morning…

Today will be variably cloudy with a chance of a snow shower or flurry tonight as a weak disturbance passes to our south. Highs will be in the 30’s to low 40’s with some mid 40’s in West Central NJ.

Tomorrow clouds will increase at night as a strong disturbance approaches from the west. Highs will be in the 40’s.

Sunday, snow will develop early in the morning in East Central and Northeastern PA, Northern NJ, Southeastern NY State, and Fairfield County, CT, changing to rain. A mixture of rain and snow will develop in NYC and on Long Island, changing to rain, and rain will develop in Southeastern PA and Central and Southern NJ. The rain will be heavy at times early in the morning, with clearing in the afternoon. There could also be some freezing rain in the higher elevations of Northeastern PA, Northwestern NJ, and Southeastern NY State. Lows will be in the upper 20’s and 30’s, with highs from the mid 40’s in Southeastern NY State and Fairfield County, CT, to the upper 50’s to mid 60’s in Central NJ.

Total possible snowfall accumulations:

Trace to a coating possible:  NYC, North Shore of Long Island

Trace to an inch possible:  East Central PA, Northeastern NJ, Fairfield County, CT

Coating to an inch or two possible:  Northwestern NJ, Southeastern NY State

Coating to three inches possible:  Northeastern PA


Monday into Tuesday morning will then be variably cloudy with a chance of a snow shower Monday night into Tuesday morning as a cold front passes through our area and then some Lake Effect moisture may develop behind the front. Highs will range from the low to mid 30’s in Northeastern PA to the mid 40’s in Central NJ.

Wednesday will then be nice with highs in the low to mid 40’s.

Thursday clouds will increase with a chance of showers in the afternoon or at night as a disturbance and cold front approach from the west. Highs will be in the mid 40’s to low 50’s.

Next Friday, March 15th, there will be a chance of showers as the disturbance and cold front pass through our area. Highs will be in the 50’s to low 60’s as warm air surges into our area ahead of the approaching cold front.

Next Saturday, March 16th, through Monday, March 18th, will then be nice with highs in the upper 30’s and 40’s next Saturday, the upper 30’s to mid 40’s next Sunday, and the 40’s next Monday.

Next Tuesday, March 19th, clouds will increase with a chance of rain or snow developing in the afternoon or at night as a disturbance approaching from the west may cause a storm to form along the Middle Atlantic Coast.

Next Wednesday, March 20th, there will be a chance of rain or snow with highs in the low to mid 40’s.

Next Thursday, March 21st, there will be a chance of rain or snow showers with highs in the upper 30’s to mid 40’s.
