Sunday, May 26, 2019 - Evening Weather Discussion

Massive heat wave from Florida through Maryland and Delaware, and endless chances for showers and thunderstorms in our area...

The incredible heatwave will continue the rest of the week in the Southeastern United States, with highs approaching or exceeding 100 degrees in parts of Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia, and temperatures exceeding 90 degrees in much of Maryland and Delaware. All-time record high temperatures for the month of May are being reached in many locations.

We will however be saved from the heat by the stationary front that has been, and will continue to be, situated near our area, as one disturbance after the other passes along it, bringing us chances for showers and thunderstorms nearly every day.

It will be variably cloudy with a chance of a shower or thunderstorm this evening, especially in East Central and Northeastern PA and Northern NJ, as a weak disturbance passes through our area.

Memorial Day will then be nice with highs in the 70’s.

Tuesday there will be rain, possibly heavy at times, as a strong disturbance passes through our area. Total rainfall amounts will likely range from a half of an inch to an inch and a half throughout most of our area, which could produce some flooding. It will be windy, with gusts of 20-40 mph possible. Highs will be in the mid 50’s to low 60’s in Northeastern PA, Southeastern NY State, on Eastern Long Island, and in Fairfield County, CT, the upper 50’s to mid 60’s in Northern NJ, the low to mid 60’s on Western Long Island, the mid 60’s in NYC, the mid to upper 60’s in East Central PA, the upper 60’s to low 70’s in East Central NJ, and the low to mid 70’s in West Central NJ.

Wednesday will then be variably cloudy with a chance of showers or thunderstorms in the afternoon as a disturbance passes to our north. Highs will be in the 60’s on Long Island, in the mid 60’s to low 70’s in Fairfield County, CT, the upper 60’s to low 70’s along the NJ Coast, in NYC and Southeastern NY State, the upper 60’s to mid 70’s in Northeastern PA, the low to mid 70’s in Northern NJ, and the mid 70’s to low 80’s in East Central PA and inland Central NJ.

Thursday will be variably cloudy with a chance of an afternoon or evening shower or thunderstorm as a cold front and disturbance pass through our area. Highs will be in the mid to upper 70’s in Northeastern PA and on Long Island, the upper 70’s to low 80’s in Northwestern NJ, NYC, Southeastern NY State, and in Fairfield County, CT, the low to mid 80’s in East Central PA, Coastal and Northeastern NJ, and in the mid to upper 80’s in inland Central NJ.

Friday will then be nice with highs in the 70’s.

Saturday will be variably cloudy with a chance of showers or thunderstorms as a disturbance may develop near the Middle Atlantic Coast. Highs will be in the 70’s.

Next Sunday, June 2nd, through next Saturday, June 8th, are then looking variably cloudy with a chance of a shower or thunderstorm each day as the stationary front may remain near our area, with disturbances riding along it. Highs will be in the mid 60’s to mid 70’s next Sunday through Friday, and the upper 60’s and 70’s next Saturday.

Have a wonderful evening!
