Category 5 Hurricane Dorian has stalled now over the Bahamas and will turn northward tonight, approaching the South Carolina coast near Charleston and Myrtle Beach Thursday afternoon, then turning northeast just prior to landfall, possibly making landfall at Morehead City and Cape Lookout, NC in far Southeastern NC, then continuing northeast, reaching a point about 100 miles southeast of Cape Cod, Massachusetts early Saturday morning. Dorian will likely cause significant coastal flooding in much of the Southeastern United States, and some coastal flooding will be possible in parts of the Northeastern United States. Winds could also be a problem along parts of the Southeastern Coast, with gusts of 50-70 mph possible along the Florida Coast, 60-80 mph possible along the South Carolina Coast, and 80-100 mph possible along the North Carolina Coast. Today, showers will develop and possibly a thunderstorm, as a cold front passes through our area. Some of the storms could be severe. Highs will be in the 70’s, with some low 80’s possible in West Central NJ. Click here for the Convective Outlook from the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center.
Tomorrow will be variably cloudy with highs in the mid 70’s to mid 80’s.
Wednesday will be variably cloudy with a chance of a shower or thunderstorm. Some of the storms could be severe. Highs will be in the 80’s, with some low 90’s in Central NJ.
Thursday will be variably cloudy with a chance of a shower at night in Central NJ as Hurricane Dorian approaches our area. Highs will be in the upper 60’s to mid 70’s.
Friday will be variably cloudy with a chance of a shower or thunderstorm. It will be breezy with gusts of 20-30 mph inland and up to 40 mph along the coast and on Long Island, as Dorian passes southeast of our area. Highs will be in the upper 60’s to low 70’s.
Saturday and Sunday will then be nice with highs in the 70’s Saturday and the upper 60’s to mid 70’s Sunday.
Next Monday, September 9th, and next Tuesday, September 10th, are then looking variably cloudy with a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm as a cold front passes through our area. Highs will be in the upper 60’s to mid 70’s next Monday and the upper 60’s to mid 70’s next Tuesday.
Next Wednesday, September 11th, will then be nice with highs in the 70’s.
Next Thursday, September 12th, through next Saturday, September 14th, are then looking variably cloudy with a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm. Highs will be in the mid 70’s to low 80’s next Thursday and the 70’s next Friday and Saturday.
