Thursday, September 12, 2019 - Morning Weather Discussion

Showers/thunderstorms likely today, another chance Saturday afternoon/evening, and then closely watching the tropics…

It will be variably cloudy with showers or thunderstorms likely today as a disturbance and cold front pass through our area. Some of the storms could be severe today. Click here for the latest Convective Outlook from the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center. Highs will range from the upper 60’s to low 70’s in Northern Orange and Putnam Counties in NY State to the low to mid 80’s in Central NJ.

Tomorrow will then be variably cloudy with highs in the mid 60’s to low 70’s.

Saturday will be variably cloudy with a chance of an afternoon or evening shower or thunderstorm as a cold front passes through our area. Highs will be in the 70’s to low 80’s.

A tropical disturbance currently located along the northern shore of Cuba will move northeastward through the Bahamas and towards the Southeastern Coast of the United States this weekend, strengthening as it does so, potentially reaching hurricane strength by Sunday and approaching the Carolinas. This storm has the potential to strengthen rapidly once off the Southeastern Coast of the United States. Anyone with interests along the Southeastern Coast of the United States will want to monitor this situation very closely. There is also a chance that this storm could make landfall in the Carolinas and then move up the East Coast of the United States, or possibly turn up the East Coast of the United States without making landfall and then threatening areas further north, possibly even into our area. We will have to wait and see. Click here for the latest on this system from the National Hurricane Center…

In our area, Sunday through Wednesday are looking nice, but people in the Southeastern United States will need to monitor the potential hurricane. Highs will be in the mid 70’s to mid 80’s Sunday, and Monday, dropping to the 70’s Tuesday and the low to mid 70’s Wednesday.

Next Thursday, September 19th, we will need to monitor the potential hurricane along the East Coast as there is a possibility it could turn northward along the East Coast and threaten our area. This could cause clouds to increase Thursday with highs in the mid to upper 70’s.

Next Friday, September 20th, through next Sunday, September 22nd, there will be a chance of showers or thunderstorms as the approaching hurricane, or it’s remnants, and an approaching cold front could affect our area. Highs will be in the mid 70’s to low 80’s next Friday and Saturday and the mid to upper 70’s next Sunday.

Next Monday, September 23rd, and next Tuesday, September 24th, will be variably cloudy with a chance of a shower or thunderstorm as a cold front or another tropical system could affect our area. Highs will be in the 70’s next Monday and the upper 60’s to mid 70’s next Tuesday.

Next Wednesday is then looking nice with highs in the upper 60’s to mid 70’s.

Have a fantastic day!
