Severe Thunderstorm Watch issued for Northeastern PA

The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of
  Central and Eastern New York
  Northeast Pennsylvania

* Effective this Thursday night and Friday morning from 615 PM
  until 200 AM EDT.

* Primary threats include...
  Scattered damaging winds likely with isolated significant gusts
    to 75 mph possible
  A tornado or two possible

SUMMARY...Low-topped convection including a few thunderstorms will
continue to intensify and rapidly accelerate northeastward across
the region this evening. Damaging winds will be the primary risk,
with a brief tornado or two possible as well.

The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 80
statute miles east and west of a line from 50 miles west southwest
of Monticello NY to 30 miles northwest of Glens Falls NY. For a

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
tornadoes.
