Sunday, November 3, 2019 - Evening Weather Discussion

First chances for snow Thursday night into Friday morning and again next Monday night into Tuesday...

It will be nice through tomorrow with highs tomorrow in the mid 40’s to mid 50’s.

Tuesday there will be a chance of showers in Northeastern PA as a cold front approaches from the west, and along the Coast and on Long Island as a weak disturbance develops off the NJ Coast. Highs Tuesday will range from the mid 40’s to low 50’s in Northeastern PA to the upper 50’s to mid 60’s in East Central NJ.

Wednesday will then be nice with highs in the mid 40’s to low 50’s.

Thursday clouds will increase, with light rain developing in the late morning and afternoon from west to east across our area. At night, the light rain may start to mix with and possibly change to snow in East Central and Northeastern PA, Northern NJ, Southeastern NY State, and in Fairfield County, CT, and possibly in Central NJ, NYC, and on Long Island, late at night. Highs will be in the mid 40’s to mid 50’s.

The precipitation will end early in the morning from west to east, with variably cloudy skies and a chance of a sprinkle or snow flurry during the day. Highs will be in the mid 30’s to mid 40’s.

Below is the latest ECMWF (European model) ensemble mean snowfall map for the storm next Thursday night and Friday. The ensemble mean is an average of the 50 various ways they tweak the model for various conditions, meaning half are projecting more snow than this and half are projecting less. This gives you a good idea of whether your area has a chance at snow, with snowfall amounts likely to increase in some areas further north and decrease in areas near the southern edge of this band. Let’s continue to watch this over the next few days.
