Monday, January 13, 2020 - Morning Weather Discussion

Relatively warm through Thursday, then colder Friday and a chance for significant snow in much of our area Saturday…

Today will be variably cloudy with a slight chance of a sprinkle near the coast. Highs will be in the mid to upper 40’s.

Tomorrow will be variably cloudy with a chance of light rain in the afternoon or evening as a weak disturbance passes through our  area. Highs will be in the mid to upper 40’s.

Wednesday will then be mostly sunny with highs in the mid 40’s to mid 50’s.

Thursday will be variably cloudy with a chance of light rain in the morning, with some light freezing rain possible in parts of Northeastern PA, Northwestern Orange County, NY, and in Northern Fairfield County, CT, as a cold front approaches and then passes through our area. Highs will range from the mid to upper 30’s in Northeastern PA to the mid 40’s in Central NJ, NYC, and on Long Island.

Friday will be mostly sunny with highs in the mid 20’s to low 30’s.

Saturday, clouds will increase early in the morning, with snow developing in the late morning and early afternoon from west to east, possibly mixing with or changing to rain in Central NJ, NYC, Northeastern NJ, Southern Westchester County, NY, and on Long Island as a strong disturbance passes through our area. The exact track of this disturbance will determine how much cold air stays in place in our area and where exactly the rain/snow line will set up. It currently appears that highs will range from the upper 20’s to low 30’s in Northeastern PA to the upper 30’s along the NJ Coast and on Eastern Long Island.

Sunday the rain and snow will end very early in the morning, followed by clearing. Significant snowfall accumulation is likely in East Central and Northeastern PA, Northwestern NJ, Southeastern NY State, and in Fairfield County, CT, and is possible in Central and Northeastern NJ, NYC, and on Long Island. Lows will be in the upper 20’s to mid 30’s, with highs from the upper 20’s to low 30’s in Northeastern PA to the upper 30’s along the NJ Coast and on Eastern Long Island.

Next Monday, January 20th and next Tuesday, January 21st, are then looking nice with highs from the low 20’s in Northeastern PA to the low 30’s along the NJ Coast and on Long Island next Monday and in the upper teens to mid 20’s next Tuesday.

Next Wednesday, January 22nd, we will need to keep an eye on a storm that may develop just to our south. Right now, it appears that there will be a chance of a snow shower near the coast and on Eastern Long Island with highs in the 20’s.

Next Thursday, January 23rd, is then looking mostly sunny with highs in the upper 20’s to mid 30’s.

Next Friday, January 24th, clouds will increase with a chance of rain or snow developing in the afternoon or evening as a disturbance approaches from the west. Highs will be in the mid 30’s to low 40’s.

Next Saturday, January 25th, there will be a chance of rain or snow as a disturbance passes through our area. Highs will be in the mid 30’s to low 40’s.

Next Sunday, January 26th, there will be a chance of rain or snow ending in the morning, followed by clearing. Highs will be in the 30’s.

Have a fantastic day!
