Saturday, January 4, 2020 - Morning Weather Discussion

Unsettled, but quite warm overall, considering it is January…

There will be rain this morning and again tonight, with a break possible this afternoon, with rain possibly changing to snow tonight in Northeastern PA, Northwestern NJ, Southeastern NY State, and in Fairfield County, CT as one disturbance departs our area and another enters our area. Highs today will be in the upper 40’s to mid 50’s.

Tomorrow the rain and snow will end in the morning, then it will be variably cloudy with a chance of a snow shower developing at night in East Central PA and Central NJ, and a chance of light snow developing at night in Northeastern PA, Northern NJ, Southeastern NY State, NYC, and Fairfield County, CT. Highs will range from the low 30’s in Northeastern PA to the low 40’s in Central NJ.

Sunday morning possible snowfall accumulation:

Trace to a coating:  Northwestern NJ, Southeastern NY State, and Fairfield County, CT

Trace to a half inch possible:  Northeastern PA

Monday, the light snow and snow showers will end early in the morning, followed by clearing. Highs will be in the upper 30’s to mid 40’s.

Sunday night into Monday morning possible snowfall accumulation:

Trace to a half inch:  East Central PA, Northern NJ (roughly just south of Rt. 78 northward), NYC, Northwestern Long Island, Fairfield County, CT

Coating to an inch possible:  Northeastern PA, far Northwestern NJ, Southeastern NY State

Tuesday, another disturbance will approach our area, but this time colder air will be in place at upper levels of the atmosphere, but it will still be too warm for snow at lower levels of the atmosphere in parts of our area. Clouds will increase with snow developing in the late afternoon and evening from southwest to northeast in East Central and Northeastern PA, West Central and Northern NJ, Southeastern NY State, NYC, on Northwestern Long Island, and in Fairfield County, CT, and rain developing in East Central NJ and on Southeastern Long island. Highs will range from the mid to upper 30’s in Northeastern PA to the mid 40’s in Central NJ.

Wednesday, the rain and snow will end early in the morning, followed by clearing. Highs will be in the mdi 30’s to low 40’s.

Thursday will be mostly sunny with highs in the mid to upper 30’s.

Friday will be variably cloudy with a chance of a shower. Highs will be in the upper 40’s to mid 50’s.

Next Saturday, January 11th, and next Sunday, January 12th, there will be a chance of rain as a disturbance passes through our area. Highs will be in the mid 40’s to mid 50’s next Saturday and the mid 40’s to mid 50’s next Sunday.

Next Monday, January 13th, will be variably cloudy with a chance of showers at night as another disturbance passes through our area. Highs will be in the 40’s.

Next Tuesday, January 14th  and next Wednesday, January 15th, will be variably cloudy with a chance of a shower. Highs will be in the upper 40’s to mid 50’s next Tuesday and the mid 40’s to mid 50’s next Wednesday.

Next Thursday, January 16th and next Friday, January 17th are then looking variably cloudy with a chance of a rain or snow shower. Highs will be in the mid 30’s to mid 40’s next Thursday and the mid 30’s to low 40’s next Friday.
