Friday, April 17, 2020 - Morning Weather Discussion

Accumulating snow likely in northern parts of our area tonight into tomorrow morning…

A cold front has stalled just south of our area, allowing temperatures to get below freezing in most parts of our area this morning, with a low of 25 degrees recorded at my location in Allamuchy Township, Warren County, NJ.

A disturbance is developing along the front in the Central United States and is heading eastward along the front. This disturbance will cause clouds to increase today, with rain developing this afternoon and evening throughout our area, possibly starting as snow in Northeastern PA, and then changing to snow at night in Northeastern PA, far Northwestern NJ, Northwestern Orange County in NY, and possibly in Northern Putnam County in NY, and in Northern Fairfield County CT. Highs will be in the 40’s to low 50’s.

Tomorrow the rain and snow will end in the morning. Total possible snowfall accumulation of a trace to 3 inches or more possible in Northeastern PA and far Northwestern Orange County, NY, and a trace to an inch possible in far Northwestern NJ, the rest of Orange and Putnam Counties in NY, and in Northern Fairfield County, CT. Lows will be in the mid 30’s to mid 40’s with highs in the 40’s.

Sunday will then be mostly sunny with highs in the mid 50’s to low 60’s.

Monday there will be a chance of rain as a disturbance develops in the Southeastern United States and then heads northeastward. There is a chance that this disturbance could remain far enough off shore to keep us dry, but we will have to wait and see. Highs will be in the mid 40’s to low 50’s.

Tuesday will be variably cloudy with a chance of a shower. Highs will be in the 50’s to low 60’s.

Wednesday will be mostly sunny with highs in the mid 40’s to low 50’s.

Thursday, clouds will increase with rain developing at night as a strong disturbance approaches from the west. Highs will be in the 50’s to low 60’s.

Next Friday, April 24th, there will be rain as the disturbance passes through our area. Highs will be in the mid 50’s to low 60’s.

Next Saturday, April 25th, through next Thursday, April 30th, are then looking variably cloudy with a chance of a shower each day as a stationary front may develop near our area. Highs will be mainly in the mid 50’s to mid 60’s.
