Significant snow likely in much of our area tomorrow...
The 2 week forecast is all about tomorrow, as there is really not too much else to talk about.
Tomorrow a strong cold front will be approaching from the west while a disturbance approaches from the Southern Rockies and the Gulf of Mexico. The two disturbances will combine along the Middle Atlantic Coast, intensifying rapidly while the cold front passes through, bringing cold air into our area. This will cause rain to develop in the morning, gradually changing to snow from west to east.
I am going to put out a snowfall forecast for tomorrow based off the short-range American, Canadian, and medium range American models, but we will have to watch closely to see if the further east solution of the European model ends up being correct, as that would push higher snow amounts further south and east.
Total possible snowfall accumulations:
Coating to an inch or 2: Southeastern NJ and Eastern Long Island
1-4 inches possible: Southwestern NJ, Western Long Island, Southeastern Fairfield County, CT
4-8 inches possible: Southeastern PA, West Central and Northeastern NJ, Westchester County, NY Northwestern Fairfield County, CT
6-12 inches possible: East Central and Northeastern PA, Northwestern NJ, Orange, Rockland, and Putnam Counties in NY State
