Heavy rain and strong wind Sunday night into Monday morning will bring flooding and power outages to our area…


A strong disturbance will develop today and tomorrow in the Gulf of Mexico and along the East Coast, moving northeastward through our area Sunday night and Monday. This will bring 2-4 inches of rain to our area Sunday night and Monday, with wind gusts of up to 50 mph possible inland, and 60 mph possible near the coast, in NYC, and on Long Island.


It will start out nice and warm today and tomorrow with highs in the upper 40’s to mid 50’s today and the mid 40’s to low 50’s tomorrow.


Sunday, rain will develop in the afternoon and evening, becoming heavy at times at night, and it will be windy with gusts of up to 50 mph possible inland and 60 mph possible near the coast, in NYC, and on Long Island. Highs will be in the mid 40’s to mid 50’s.


The rain will end in the late morning and early afternoon Monday as the disturbance pulls away from our area. There could be a total of 2-4 inches of rain throughout most of our area, which will cause flooding and there could be significant power outages with the strong winds. Highs will be mid 40’s to mid 50’s.


Tuesday will then be variably cloudy with a chance of snow showers as a weak disturbance passes through our area. Highs will be in the 30’s to low 40’s.


Wednesday through Christmas Eve will then be nice with highs in the mid 30’s to low 40’s Wednesday and the low to mid 40’s Thursday through Christmas Eve.


Christmas Day clouds will increase with a chance of rain developing at night as a disturbance approaches our area. Highs will be in the 40’s.


Next Tuesday, there will be a chance of rain as the disturbance passes through our area. Highs will be in the upper 30’s to mid 40’s.


Next Wednesday and Thursday will be nice with highs in the mid 30’s to low 40’s next Wednesday and the 30’s next Thursday.
