No changes in my forecast of an all snow event for all of central and northern New Jersey. Still forecasting 3-6 inches for everyone. That forecast will remain until I see the new run of the European model when I wake up. Expect a very early morning quick update for you early risers like me, before I produce my detailed forecast. One
thing I do want to mention though is that right now I am not as concerned about the winds as I was previously. Don't get me wrong, I am still quite concerned, but the storm is simply not as intense on the runs coming out now as it was previously. This is what is allowing more cold air to remain in place and produce the snow, instead of rain or a mix with very high winds. The way this storm looks to me now, it looks as if we will likely get lots of wind gusts in the 20-25mph range, with some gusts as high as 40-45mph, but right now I simply don't see the 60-70mph winds that the National Weather Service is talking about, nor do I see the rain they are talking about, except possibly in the first minutes of the storm. I don't want you to be mistaken though about the fact that 40mph wind gusts on top of 3-6 inches of snow sticking to trees already leaning on power lines can cause severe damage. I would certainly expect some power outages again if this all happens the way I think it will.
