Tonight we will see heavy rain and strong winds that may
produce some flash flooding of small streams and ponding on roads. This heavy rain will continue into the
morning rush hour tomorrow, causing a very difficult morning drive. In addition to the heavy rain, we will also
have strong winds, possibly gusting to 50mph, which could cause some power
outages. The rain will end in the late
morning, and could even mix with or change to snow before ending, as the cold
air surges into our area behind the storm, although I don’t expect any
accumulation. Then tomorrow night we
will see some snow showers behind the storm, and those snow showers may
continue into Saturday, and could accumulate to a dusting to an inch in some
locations. The next storm to affect our
area may occur early on Christmas morning, when it is possible that we could
get an inch or two of snow in some locations prior to daybreak, as a weak storm
system approaches our area. Then we may
very well be dealing with a strong storm on Wednesday afternoon into Thursday,
which could be either rain or snow, or a mixture of the two, depending on the
exact track that the storm takes.
Looking into the long term, there is still a chance of another strong
storm affecting our area the day after New Year’s, which could again be either
rain or snow, depending on the exact track that the storm takes. Check back for updates.
